About Blue Meadow Farms
Our Mission Statement
Blue Meadow Farms (BMF) exists to provide our customers, associates, owners and communities with the opportunity to enrich their lives through unique interactions with the earth and all of its abundant resources.
Where to Find Us
Our 10+ acre farm is located off Asheville Highway in Hendersonville, NC. During this first season, we hope to farm 5 acres of the land and work our way up from there. Starting mid-May, you can find us through the Asheville City Market and West Asheville Tailgate Market.
Who We Are
The farm is owned by Jim and Karen Klak. In 2010, the Klaks finalized the land purchased to enable their dream of having a successful organic farm.
Jim Klak has a Finance & Accounting degree from Virginia Tech and over 27 years of service experience in the banking industry.
Karen Klak has a Computer Science undergraduate and master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also has over 30 years of management experience in various fields, including graphics design, computer systems, management consulting and large complex project management.
The farm is being managed by their son, Fenner Klak. Fenner is the chief growing officer for farm operations and in charge of the day-to-day activities on the farm. He has an undergraduate degree in Biology and Sustainable Agriculture from Appalachian State University.
The company's chief of communications is Chrisan Tolentino. Chrisan is in charge of the company's public relations and Web site, as well as baked products development. She has an undergraduate degree in Communications from Appalachian State University.
